My mother’s oldest brother passed away this morning and although he never married, he lived a full life and had several close friends that were like family to him, one like a daughter. I will be flying back to Arkansas for the funeral so will be generally off the computer for the next week.
I will be writing down picture book ideas and doing the sketch a day while gone, but most likely will not have a way to post them until arriving back home. This is what happens to people who refuse to own cell phones or laptops. :)
This is for Day 13, variations on a theme of the country boys.

Looking forward to following “your journey” when you get home! sending a wave of “good energy” your way.
Thank you very much, Debbie! I still haven’t posted my batch of characters sketched in the St. Paul airport recently, but I should end up with some more fun ones. Probably Chicago or Detroit this trip.
Sorry for your family’s loss Kathryn. I’m glad you are able to fly out and be with them. I also look forward to the sketches when you come back – add me to your list of ‘those without’. Just not as techy as I’d like to be! I thought I’d tell you that some of your sketches remind me of an author/illustrator I admire: Wendy Watson. It’s the simplicity, but also the color choices and overall sweetness! Hope you like her stuff too!
Thank you Julie. I will check out Wendy’s work as soon as things settle down. There is a Macbook Pro upstairs, I just refuse to carry a phone, or pad, or laptop. When I leave the house, I want to experience every little sight and sound in my environment. The world can just wait until I get back home. :)
Love your attitude!
Julie, I finally got a chance to look at Wendy’s work and I love it! I had seen some of her titles before, so I wanted to thank you for such a great compliment!
